Matt joined Towle & Co. in August 2024 and is a Senior Quantitative Analyst on the investment team. He is responsible for quantitative research and process improvement, with a focus on translating investment ideas into repeatable decision rules across ranking systems, portfolio construction, and risk management.
He has been trading and building algorithms for his own account for roughly 30 years, and has often served as the creative force behind the ventures he has been part of. Matt worked with Towle & Co. for a year and a half as an independent contractor before joining the firm full-time.
He lives in St. Louis, where he and his wife, Sally, are still very much dating, and he has four children: Teddy, Tommy, Woody, and Wylie.

Chartered Financial Analyst® and CFA® are registered trademarks owned by the CFA Institute. FRM® is an accreditation offered by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) that certifies the understanding of risk management concepts that are validated by international professional standards. To earn the accreditation, candidates must pass two levels of exams, requiring on average about 240 hours of self-study, and have completed two years of qualifying work experience in the field of financial risk management.
